Water-cooled torches are more heat efficient because a continuous stream of pressurised cooled water flows throughout the fluted inner channels of the swan neck. These channels reach right up to the nozzle seat and tip adaptor base. The cooling medium thus reaches the hottest parts of the welding torch where it can be best effective absorbing and removing the generated and reflected heat.

On the return leg from the “hot” zone the water is further used to cool the reflected heat absorbed into the neck casing and inner power conductor.
